"My vision for the Leadership Institute can be summed up in three words – engage, inspire, and renew. Engage our leaders in quality professional development, inspire them to remember why they became an educator. I want them to go back to their districts with a renewed energy and excitement for the work and the opportunity to make change for all students."

–Dr. Kim Monachino, Director of the Ohio Department of Education's Office for Exceptional Children

The Ohio Department of Education's Office for Exceptional Children (OEC) is committed to supporting students with disabilities and to building the capacity of those who support and serve these students in Ohio’s schools.

OCALI continues its ongoing partnership with OEC by integrating the 2018 Special Education Leadership Institute with OCALICON.

The Special Education Leadership Institute is designed to provide a platform for special education leaders to collaborate, share research and best practices, and inspire change for students with disabilities. From principals, superintendents, curriculum directors, special education directors, building team leaders, pupil service directors, the Leadership Institute has something to offer everyone.

Through the integration of the Leadership Institute with OCALICON, attendees will have the opportunity to extend their professional learning and networking experiences and will leave the event engaged, inspired, and renewed in their ongoing efforts to better support and serve all people with disabilities.
